But what is Sankt Hans?
The height of Danish summer is celebrated on the evening of June 23 under the name Sankt Hans (Saint Hans), who is known in English as John the Baptist. The festival of Sankt Hans and the celebration of the summer solstice have pagan roots and date back to the days before Christianity came to Denmark. Historically the midsummer celebrations in Denmark were connected with pagan rituals, then later re-interpreted and adapted to fit with Christian traditions.
Today the celebrations are a mix of pretty much everything. But, for most people, it's simply a gathering of friends and family topped with plenty of hygge around a glowing bonfire.
It wouldn't be a party without food and drinks, we will provide food and snacks, but please bring your own drinks.
All you need to do is to: sign up, pay, bring drinks, swimsuits and see you at the Central pier # 9 or #10
