Dear Subscriber,

GREETINGS FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Hope that this newsletter finds you in good health and keeping well.

While the 4th. wave of Covid has officially ended in Hong Kong, then there is no major ease of restrictions insight and with the current vaccination rate, we are far from herd immunity so the immediate reaction is that of being status quo. We have been in status quo for a long time and for a lot of businesses, it would not be a sustainable situation unless the business has been able to innovate itself into a business model that can survive during a global pandemic where the rules and goal posts are constantly changing. Consumers have shifted into online space for goods and services - private shopping events both offline and online are established and customer sales meetings and project pitches are done via online meeting platforms. All new initiatives trying to secure that the business will be around when the expected post-pandemic boom will set in. What have your company done to tackle the challenges of the status quo? If you are interested in sharing, then DCC will arrange an online webinar and/or post your thoughts and insights on our social media. Let us know by writing to: dcc@dcc.hk

Personally, I am excited that DCC will do our part in June to help out the hard-hit restaurant- and cinema business with our Oscar and Euro Cup Events.
We can all create value and do something to ease the burden for someone else.

Upcoming events in June
As the temperatures are heating up in Hong Kong, so is our activity calendar. We just closed registrations for our Oscar Event, where we will celebrate that the Danish movie instructor, Thomas Vinterberg, won an Oscar with his movie 'Druk'. We are looking forward to hosting a night with a delicious 4-course dinner with drinks followed by watching the movie in our privately booked cinema. On the same day, the board is representing our members at an Intercham Networking Lunch and pre-International Business Committee Meeting, so it will be a busy day and night.

On June 12 we join forces with our friends from the Finnish Chamber of Commerce as we warm-up for the UEFA Euro Cup. The evening will begin with a friendly football match and thereafter the teams will venture for dinner and then watch the match for those who can stay awake. Denmark and Finland are playing in Parken, Copenhagen at 6 PM -midnight HK time (June 13). More details about the event will be posted soon.

June 14 marks the date of 25 years since the Danish Chamber of Commerce registered in Hong Kong as a society. As we were looking into the archives to build a timeline of events throughout the years it surfaced that Danish companies had been gathering prior to this date to promote Danish businesses. Very exciting and entertaining to hear stories from the past. It is truly an exciting story and journey and we are looking forward to sharing it with you soon. If you have any pictures or stories from your time in Hong Kong that deserves a mention in relation to our 25 years anniversary please feel free to write to us: dcc@dcc.hk
Once social distancing measures relax we will plan for a celebration marking our 25 years+ in Hong Kong.

Following last year's tradition, we will again this year together with the Danish Seamen's Church arrange a 'Sankt Hans Junk Trip'. On June 26 we will venture out on 3 junks - more details to come. But save the date in your calendars.
