Greetings from the Chairman
Greetings from the Chairman
Dear All,

Near and far - knowing that some are still traveling for the summer holidays. I have just returned, and within 24 hours, packing another bag and venturing out on a business trip.

What a luxury to travel freely - the days of covid confinement seems far away, although Hong Kong only abandoned all restrictions in April earlier this year - just four months ago. It is amazing how quickly the hardships of the pandemic are forgotten, but as I sit here in the airport, the anxiety of 'did I miss something' still lingers, anticipating that the trip will not be as seamless as it should be. Hope that you all are traveling easily.

We hope to see you all at the 'Welcome Home/Welcome to Hong Kong" event at the chamber on September 16. You can sign up HERE . It will be great to catch up with familiar faces and welcome new ones. We will shortly announce the details of the popular 'Night at the Races' event and our annual Christmas Dinner.

Before the summer holiday, we sent a link asking for sponsorships for these events, so we can lower the participation fees, enhance the experience and give exposure to your company. We will resend the link shortly and greatly appreciate your contribution to our community events.

Speaking of exposure, please take a minute to consider how the Danish Chamber of Commerce network can benefit you: are you looking for a job? Are you looking to hire? Are you launching a new product? Do you want to share news from your company? Would you like to meet with peers to share/get feedback? We are open to all input and ideas and happy to facilitate. We are here to help, and we know that among our resourceful members, help is to be found for those looking.

Yours,

Anita

June & July Highlights

Skt Hans (Mid summer) Junk boat event
Skt Hans (Mid summer) Junk boat event
On Saturday, June 24. DCC had the pleasure together with The Danish Seamen Church to invite for a nice junk boat trip to celebrate Danish Skt Hans (mid summer) with Danes and foreign friends of the Danish community in Hong Kong.

A big thanks to Modern Terminals (MTL) for sponsoring a junk boat for the purpose.

We sang the Midsummer song on both tunes, ate good food and could enjoy a refreshing time in the water.
Thank you not least to the Consul General from Guangzhou, Søren Bindesbøll, who gave a speech with good words for us all.

We were 45 people going and it is always a pleasure that so many nationalities can gather about Danish traditions, namely we were both permanent Danes, friends and families from Hong Kong, Korea, China, Kenya and Japan.

Women World Cup football Denmark vs England
Women World Cup football Denmark vs England
Friday July 28. members of the Danish Chamber of Commerce were invited by the British Consulate in HK for a social gathering at the British Consulate, to watch the World Cup match between Denmark and England.
We were a small Danish group of supports of Poul and Steen among English, Hong Kong and Scottish supports. It was a nice experience to watch the World Cup match together in a friendly atmosphere, even the result was not so satisfactory with England winning 1-0.
