Greetings from the Chairman
Greetings from the Chairman
Dear All,

Hope this mail finds you doing well despite the historical times we are situated in.

As if battling a global pandemic was not frustrating enough - we now also have war in Europe. I find myself becoming a news junkie and daily have to pinch myself in disbelief of what is happening in Hong Kong and the rest of the world.

My thoughts goes to the people in the frontline - the healthcare workers and to those who selfishly show up every day despite the risk and seemingly never ending crisis at hand. It is a thankless job. I believe that we are ALL fatigued, worn out, frustrated - we all want to see an end to this and patience is running thin. BUT we have to dig deeper - because the pandemic is not over.

DCC is taking an active role in collaboration with our colleagues at EuroCham raising our concerns: Hong Kong's role as Asia's World City is fading. Many European headquarters are not considering Hong Kong as regional headquarters in the wake of the political unrest and strict pandemic measures. We have seen a lot of talent leave Hong Kong and a lot of talent cannot come home as long as flight bans are in place. Personally I have colleagues stranded in Australia, UK and US since Christmas.

InvestHK's Consulate and Chamber Team has been very forthcoming and have met with some of our members in December and last week we had another touch base. It is always a very open and honest conversation - after all we all want what is best for Hong Kong and the livelihood of everyone in the city.

Ironically - a good crisis is good for some businesses and savvy business people. The Danish financial, logistics and pharmaceutical companies are thriving in the chaos of the pandemic. Companies who had a hard time getting their business model online have been forced to do so and are benefitting from the advantages of the endless shelf online. Of course the competition is fierce and everyone needs to bring their A-game every day to succeed.
As we battle Covid in Hong Kong - stay safe everyone and reach out in the DCC community if you are in need of help and support.

Yours,

Anita

Are you our new office manager?
The Danish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong is seeking a part-time office manager, who is already in Hong Kong and hold a working visa.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small community but to make a huge impact. You will have the opportunity to take on a broad scope beyond pure administration and assist the Board with projects and initiatives.

Worth mentioning, with the right candidate, this role could be further developed.
